Sydney School Transformation for Chester Hill Primary
This was a major make for Chester Hill primary school with the use of well-placed street art as part of a revitalisation through placemaking art in the school.
In total, there was a series of 6 walls that got painted and contributed towards a better experience for students who use the area for playing, going to the canteen and using the bathrooms. Teachers and staff also found the street art uplifting and helped changed the space.
The mural artwork helps brighten up the school in a positive way. Murals were painted around the school playground, canteen, toilets and walkways.
Street art also encourages creativity and a feeling of happiness. It also helped be a part of wayfinding as it created a natural corridor from the upper playground down through to the school canteen. The school canteen also has had a number of murals painted in it too.
